Established in 1983, Eastside Christian School is a ministry of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to our traditional classrooms, we enjoy the use of the Christian Activities Center, a 40,000 square foot athletic facility, which is home to our Eastside Christian Lions and serves as a place for many of our school activities.
Eastside Christian School is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International.
Our eight acre campus is located just off Interstate North 75 in the heart of East Cobb at 2450 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068. Our convenient location enables us to provide a neighborhood school for families wherever their neighborhood may be.
As an evangelical Christian school we serve students representing many churches of various denominations throughout the Atlanta metro area. With grades half-day kindergarten through 8th grade, we meet the needs of the average to excelling student by providing an experience that stimulates the development of values consistent with the Christian faith in a rigorous academic setting. Currently, our traditional curriculum is augmented with our Discovery Program.
At the heart of our ministry to the students is our faculty. In addition to teachers for grades half-day kindergarten through 8th grade, music, art, physical education, computer, Spanish and S.T.E.M. instructors as well as an athletic director and coaching staff for middle school sports round out our teaching professionals. Our current faculty averages 15 years of previous teaching experience and a large percentage of our faculty holds, a master’s degree or higher. We have a faculty called to the mission of teaching quality academics from a biblical perspective.
Our average traditional classroom houses 14 students. In providing a low student/teacher ratio, we seek to create the best situation for our teachers to get to know both students and their families on a personal basis. Providing a warm family atmosphere is a high priority at Eastside Christian School.
Using texts from Christian and secular publishers, all subject matter is taught from a perspective that emphasizes a biblical world and life view. Teaching organizational skills is an integral element of our curriculum. Beginning in half-day kindergarten, our students learn to organize time and materials and begin to grow in independence. We offer phonics-based reading instruction in kindergarten through 3rd grade as students learn to read, which leads to their ability to read to learn through all genres in grades 4th through 8th. Writing skills are nicely embedded in the reading curriculum, along with seasonal or unit-related topics. From kindergarten through 5th grade we teach a blend of traditional math, concept development, and problem solving skills. Beginning with concrete concepts we then move to the abstract. Middle school students are prepared for high school mathematics through national standards that emphasize reasoning skills as paramount to understanding higher mathematical concepts. Eastside is giving students an early start on S.T.E.M. education, which includes science, technology, engineering and math. The introduction of S.T.E.M. in the lower school makes these subjects accessible to all students instead of reserving them for advanced classes and gifted programs. A reasonable amount of homework is required in each grade. Physical education, music, Spanish, computer and art are taught in half-day kindergarten through 8th grade. Beginning in the 6th grade, students can choose between several electives.
Our students are involved in ministry and community service projects as well as sports which include girls and boys basketball, soccer, tennis, cross-country and golf as well as baseball for boys, and volleyball and cheerleading for girls. National Junior Beta Club, yearbook staff, an annual, upper school musical production, competitions in spelling and math, and participating in Reading Counts round out student opportunities.
A uniform requirement with ample choices enables the student to better focus on his or her individual achievement.
Standardized testing is administered each spring. Compared on national norms, Eastside Christian School scores cluster around the 88th percentile. In addition, our students participate in the Duke Talent Identification Program for the 7th grade and the Duke Tip for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Evaluations for the Presidential Academic Fitness Award are annually made for 5th grade and 8th grade students.
Eastside Christian School does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color or national/ethnic origin in its hiring practices, admissions policies, and administration of its educational policies, scholarship programs, athletic programs, and other school-administered programs.
